Once I started making re-useable bags out of t-shirts, I had two challenges:
We did a great donation drive, and with one little change we:
Wow! I would definitely suggest this method for doing a t-shirt drive in your school, club, or just on your own. What did we do?
I think there are a lot of settings in which this Give-Out-A-Bag-To-Fill method could work really well. For example, maybe you could put them in mailboxes in your neighborhood and ask people to put the bags out to be picked up on a certain day. Or, maybe you could put them in teacher mailboxes at your school and ask them to bring in shirts on a certain day. (Be sure to get any required permissions for either of these first.) You can think of all kinds of variations on this method that work for you! We found that using a plastic bag really helped to drive home our message, and it also motivated people to fill up the bag and take action. It gave us an easy reason to follow up, and it was a manageable size so that people felt even donating one or two t-shirts would make a difference.
